They carry the live tournament channel and the confirmed-catch cards, with no catch reporting and no sponsor spots.

Marine VHF announcements are included in every package at no extra charge. Tournament announcements, lines in and lines out, and official catch confirmations are broadcast over VHF from the director’s console, so every boat with a marine radio hears them — even boats with no NautiSignal device.

A completion report comes with every package. When the tournament ends, the director receives one automatically — catches and species, the hot times and hot zones, conditions at the catches, boat participation, safety events, and how the communication and connectivity held up.

FAQ

Questions directors ask first.

Does NautiSignal work with the VHF radio on our boats?

Yes — it is built in, and included in every package. NautiSignal does not replace the marine radio on your boat; it puts your tournament on it. Announcements, lines in and lines out, and official catch confirmations go out over marine VHF as well as through NautiSignal, so every boat with a VHF hears the tournament — whether or not it carries a NautiSignal radio or app. The director’s console also listens to the channel, so tournament control knows what is said on it. Catches are still reported through NautiSignal (radio, app, call, or text), so each one keeps its timestamp, GPS position, and audit record.

Are handhelds required?

No. NautiSignal is an all-inclusive tournament service. Assigned handhelds can be included when needed, and specialty gear like satellite or Starlink backup can be added only if your tournament requires it. Director and Radio Room radios come with every package at no extra charge, and every boat can hear tournament announcements over marine VHF regardless of package.

Can captains use a mobile app instead?

Yes. Mobile access works as a backup option or as part of a lighter tournament setup.

How is pricing set?

NautiSignal is priced per boat across four levels — Base, Pro, Full Signal, and Full Signal Cellular — with volume pricing for larger fields. Because every event differs in size, length, and needs, we build a final quote around your tournament.

How long does setup take?

We handle it. Radios arrive provisioned and paired to your boat list, and your tournament — confirmation codes, boundary, fishing hours, and the voice channel — is configured and checked off a launch checklist before day one.

What happens if a boat loses coverage offshore?

Radios carry both cellular and Wi-Fi and switch between them automatically. The live voice channel keeps working wherever there is signal, and catches can always be called in the moment coverage returns — nothing is lost in between. Announcements also go out over marine VHF, so a boat that drops out of cell range hears the tournament on its own VHF for as long as it is within radio range. Satellite backup can be added for events that run far offshore.

How are catches verified?

Every report carries the boat's identity, a server timestamp, the reported species and angler, and a GPS boundary check. Confirmations use unique color-and-number codes, and each one is logged with a delivery receipt and the boat's acknowledgment — a complete record for any protest.

Do spectators need an app to follow along?

No. The live page works in any browser from a link or the QR code on the dock — no login, no download. There's a big-screen feed for TVs at the marina, and the live audio broadcast means the crowd hears every catch as it happens.

What do we get for scoring?

A one-click export of every catch in receive order with the official tie-break sequence. Each row carries its status and the director's reason for any disqualification, with a single counts-for-scoring column so a disqualified catch can never be scored by mistake.
